Why everyone keeps coming back.

China Palace Restaurant, located at 688 Barber Ln in Milpitas, CA, is a beloved Chinese dining spot that has won over locals with its authentic flavors and late-night availability. Specializing in traditional Chinese cuisine, this restaurant offers a rich menu that highlights the art of lotus leaf cooking—a unique preparation method that imbues dishes with an enticing, aromatic essence.

Among its signature offerings, the China Palace Special dishes stand out. The Minced Beef Tofu delivers a harmonious blend of tender minced beef and silky tofu, stir-fried with savory soy sauce that coats each bite with umami depth. For those craving a medley of flavors, the House Special Tofu with Beef, Seafood & Chicken is a succulent combination simmered in a rich, savory sauce that balances the muscular taste of meat with the delicate notes of the sea.

Fans of crispy textures will appreciate the Salt & Pepper Deep Fried Pork Chop, where the perfectly fried exterior crackles with seasoning, revealing juicy pork beneath. Similarly, the Pork Chop with Garlic Sauce offers a fragrant and bold flavor profile, delivering a garlicky punch that excites the palate.

The restaurant’s lotus leaf rice dishes are a must-try for any visitor seeking something authentically Chinese yet uncommon in many menus. Whether it’s the Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce with Rice in Lotus Leaf or the Minced Beef with Rice in Lotus Leaf, each portion is steamed to perfection, allowing the fragrant lotus leaf to impart a signature herbal aroma that enlivens every grain of rice.

Complementing these hearty mains are tempting side dishes like the Pan Fried Onion Cake, a crispy yet chewy scallion-studded dough delight, perfect for nibbling alongside your meal. The Pot Stickers and Boiled Dumplings—filled with savory minced pork and fresh vegetables—offer a satisfying textural contrast with their tender, bursting interiors.

Regular patrons, like Vincent Tang, appreciate the restaurant’s “lots of unique fried rice dishes and specialty in lotus leaf dishes,” while loyal customers note the “fairly authentic Chinese food” and “decent portions” at fair prices. The restaurant’s late-night hours have also made it a reliable refuge for night owls craving comforting Chinese fare, though it’s wise to call ahead for exact closing times as they sometimes shift.

While some reviews mention that the service can be a bit brusque, especially if language barriers come into play, it's clear that the food is the real draw here—powerful, vibrant, and satisfying in ways that keep customers coming back for over a decade. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick takeout or settling in for a flavorful meal, China Palace Restaurant offers a genuine taste of Chinese culinary tradition wrapped in a welcoming, no-frills atmosphere.

For those seeking a rich and authentic Chinese dining experience in Milpitas with a focus on unique lotus leaf specialties and late-night availability, China Palace Restaurant remains a standout choice.

Late night Chinese cash-only takeout spot with lots of unique fried rice dishes and specialty in lotus leaf dishes. Order on the phone or in-person for cheaper prices than online sites. I'd only use the online site to view menu items. Food: Their sides, "Beef Chow Fun" and "Dried Scallop w/ Seafood Fried Rice" were on point with flavors, quality, and texture. The "Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings" were just OK. I am definitely coming back for their sides. Going to need to try all their rice dishes!

Fairly authentic Chinese food! Fair prices and decent portions. Service may not be the best if you don't speak the language, but you aren't here for the service anyways!

I always go there for my lunch atleast 3/4 times a week. The price and portion is good. I even bring my coworkers for that reason. The only downside is the service. The old man could improve his service though. I am fine with his grumpiness but he scares my coworkers away.

This place has been a late night go to for me for this past 14 years. The service is a hit or a miss, as it depends on the mood and attitude of the waitress, she can be rude at times. I get it, it's late, your tired, and your doing the same job for the longest time. But don't take out your frustrations on the next customer. The food here is awesome, I love it, and that's why I keep going back, and it's very reasonable for the price. They have delicacies like alligator, deer & rabbit, all prepared beautifully. If you are adventurous, try it.

I’ve been coming here for almost a decade. I’m obsessed with the onion pancake, salt and pepper tofu, and kung pao tofu. All very flavorful and satisfying! I miss when it was open til 3am. Now they close earlier, sometimes midnight or1am, it’s best to call and ask.

Everything here is really good, it comes out quick, hot, fresh and packed with flavor. I really recommend coming between 11-2 as they have a great lunch deal for 12 dollars you get an entire plate of rice and meat! However all the other options on the menu are great! I know a lot of people complain about the old guy serving in the front and yes he has a horrible attitude but really Hes just old and tired. I come here three times a week and after three months i saw him smile when he saw me! So dont let him get to you and enjoy your food.

For over a decade, I've been a loyal patron of this place. I fondly recall the times when they generously offered a complimentary boba drink with pearls alongside the meal. How I yearn for those days! Nevertheless, their food continues to impress, consistently delivering the most delightful Kung Pao Chicken and Ma Po Tofu in my opinion. Each dish arrives piping hot, served promptly, and bursting with flavor. The only thing to keep in mind is that they accept cash payments only.

This place is great because they close late. The food is pretty standard Chinese food with reasonable prices. Service is the typical old school rude Asian service that is probably a cultural thing. Anyway it doesn't bother us because the food was good. We ordered the combination fried rice, the egg drop soup, and Mongolian beef. Parking is plentiful in the later hours.
